Finding Childcare

Universities are not always child-friendly places; not all universities accommodate student parents if and when childcare ‘lets you down’. This is particularly the case for those (such as student parents who work in placements in the NHS) who have irregular or unusual shift patterns and placements and need to cover informal childcare costs.

Some universities work together with a nursery and may even have a nursery or a crèche on campus; something which is worth investigation. In addition, the following childcare options are worthy of considering.

  • Nurseries

  • Child-minders

  • Babysitters

  • Breakfast and afterschool clubs

  • Activity clubs (click here to search for clubs in your area)
